Ferrari Performance

Ferrari in Miami, FL at Potamkin Auto Gallery

Ferrari. Just the name alone conjures images of sleek sports cars roaring along the Autobahn or parading down the Hollywood boardwalk for all to see and envy. Anyone who sees the famous Prancing Horse logo instantly knows that this motor car is special. But why? What makes Ferraris so special, so unique, so extraordinary that they are immediately recognized by anyone who glimpses one?

Since its birth in 1947, the brain child of founder Enzo Anselmo Ferrari, Ferrari motor cars have been known for their power; performance; design; craftsmanship; personalization; luxuriousness; driver involvement; and long list of competitions wins. Three examples that embody these traits are the Ferrari California, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, and the Ferrari 599 GTB.

Featuring a mid-front positioned V8 engine with direct petrol injection (DPI), the Ferrari California is a convertible GT that sports a retractable hard-top, capable of opening or closing in just 14 seconds, and a max speed of 193 mph. Either an F1 dual clutch gearbox with 7 gears + Reverse or a manual gearbox with 6 gears + Reverse are available. Standard 245/40 ZR19" front and 285/40 ZR19" rear tires can be replaced by the optional 245/35 ZR20" front and 285/35 ZR20" rear tires. Other features include multilink suspension; roll-bar; and F1-Trac, an optimized traction control system.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, the avant-garde design of which carries on the Ferrari 2+2 tradition, is powered by a V12 engine and a rear-mounted F1A gearbox with 6 gears + Reverse, connected to the differential and with bevel-type final drive and limited-slip differential. Its maximum speed is 199 mph, with 0-62 mph capable in only a blistering 4 seconds on its 245/40 ZR 19" front and 285/40 ZR 19" rear tires. Other features include an aluminum chassis and body; panoramic stratified electrochromic glass roof with 3 tint settings; and a surround-sound in-car entertainment system with uMusic, CD/DVD player, USB port, 30 GB hard drive, satellite navigation, voice recognition, and Bluetooth.

And then there is the Ferrari 599 GTB. One of the highest performance V12 berlinettas ever produced at Maranello, it features a V12 engine with a 5,999 cm3 displacement, the architecture of which was obtained directly from the Ferrari Enzo, and is capable of a top speed of over 205 mph. You can choose between either a manual or a new generation F1-Superfast gearbox, both of which feature 6 gears + Reverse, while the wheels sport 245/40 19" front and 305/35 20" rear tires. Other features include SCM suspension, F1-Trac, an aerodynamic load of just 160 kg at 300 km/h, and reduced mechanical resonance from the exhaust system and the intake manifold.
